UML’s Suhang Nembang extends lead in Ilam-2

KATHMANDU: Suhang Nembang of CPN-UML has further extended his lead over Dambar Bahadur Khadka of Nepali Congress in the by-election in the Ilam-2 seat of the House of Representatives.

As per the vote count update released at 9 pm, Suhang is leading Khadka by 6,507 votes. While Suhang has received 19,697 votes, Khadka has got 13,190 votes.

Similarly, independent candidate Dakendra Thegim has secured 9,514 votes, while Milan Limbu of Rastriya Swatantra Party has received 3,323 votes.

Votes cast in Phakphokthum, Chulachuli and Mangsebung rural municipalities, three wards of Mai Municipality, eight wards of Deumai Municipality, and one ward of Ilam Municipality have been counted so far.

A total of 69,287 votes were cast in Ilam-2, according to the Election Commission.
