UML withdraws support, exits Bagmati Province Government

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML has withdrawn its support extended to the Bagmati Province Government led by Shalikram Jammakattel of CPN (Maoist Center).

UML ministers in Jammakattel’s government have also tendered their resignation.

UML’s parliamentary party leader in the Bagmati Province Assembly informed that UML was withdrawing its support to the government during his address to the province assembly on Friday.

A coalition of Maoist Center, UML, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) formed the government in Bagmati Province on January 10. Yamlal Shrestha, Rmaeshwar Shrestha and Keshav Prasad Pokharel of UML were holding ministerial portfolios in Jammakattel’s government.

Meanwhile, Jammakattel is taking a vote of confidence in the Bagmati Province Assembly on Friday after UML and RPP decided to withdraw their support extended to the government.

Nepali Congress has already decided to give a vote of confidence to Jammakattel.
