UML picks Suhang Nembang for by-polls in Ilam-2

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML has decided to field Suhang Nembang as its candidate for the by-polls in Ilam-2 constituency of the House of Representatives.

A meeting of the party’s Secretariat held on Sunday took the decision.

Suhang is the youngest son of former Speaker and UML Vice Chairperson Subash Chandra Nembang. The Ilam-2 seat of the lower house became vacant with Nembang’s demise.

Likewise, UML has decided to name Daman Bahadur Bhandari as its candidate for the by-election in Bajhang 1(1) seat of the Sudurpashchim Province Assembly.

Bhandari is the chairperson of UML’s Bajhang District Committee.

The Bajhang 1(1) seat of the Sudurpashchim Province Assembly became vacant following the death of Prithvi Bahadur Singh of the Nepali Congress. Singh was serving as the Minister of Internal Affairs and Law in the provincial government.

The Election Commission is holding by-pools in the vacant seats of the House of Representatives and Sudurpashchim Province Assembly on April 27.
