KATHMANDU: CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) have registered a resolution in the Koshi Province Assembly to form a new government under Hikmat Kumar Karki of CPN-UML.
The two parties have proposed that the Koshi Province Assembly adopt the resolution directing Chief Minister Kedar Kumar Karki to undergo a fresh floor test by May 7 arguing that he has lost the majority vote in the province assembly.
They also said that the province assembly should direct the Province Chief to invite political parties to form a new government in Koshi as per Article 168 of the Constitution of Nepal.
Chief Minister Karki, however, has insisted that since his government was formed as per the last option prescribed in the constitution, the province will head to the mid-term polls if he is forced to step down.
