KATHMANDU: The Central Committee meeting of the CPN-UML has concluded after endorsing the political report presented by Chairperson KP Sharma Oli and the organizational report presented by General Secretary Shankar Pokharel.
In his concluding address, Oli said disciplinary actions taken against three leaders would not be rolled back. “Actions taken by the party against those who speak and act against party interests will not be revoked as such behaviors only foster disorder within the party,” Oli said. “If party leaders have to say anything about party decisions, they should say it in party meetings. Speaking in streets won’t be appropriate and acceptable.”
He also defended the party’s decision to accept a land donation from a business house to build the party’s central office building.
UML has called on the government to empower state bodies established for investigating, prosecuting, and adjudicating corruption cases equip them with adequate resources, raise social awareness against corruption, act decisively against those involved, regardless of their identity, and promptly investigate and resolve all widely discussed corruption cases.
The party also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining integrity, transparency and accountability within its ranks.
The meeting also decided to launch a three-month campaign from next month.
The meeting kicked off at the party headquarters in Chaysal on Sunday.
