KATHMANDU: Umesh Shrestha has once again been appointed Treasurer of Nepali Congress (NC).
NC President Gagan Kumar Thapa nominated Central Working Committee member Umesh Shrestha to the position as per Article 21 (4) of the Nepali Congress statute, 2017, a statement issued by the party says.
Shrestha had also served as Treasurer of the party when Sher Bahadur Deuba was the President.
Shrestha is a well-known figure in both business and politics. After working in the education sector for four decades, he diversified his business interests and expanded investments into tourism, hydropower, and agriculture.
He has also collaborated with Min Bahadur Gurung of Bhat-Bhateni Group by investing in ventures like the Annapurna Square in Durbar Marg and a readymade garment factory in Bhairahawa.
