KATHMANDU: International visitor arrivals to Nepal via air declined by 1.28% in the first four months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, despite a record-breaking influx in April this year.

According to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), a total of 415,048 international tourists visited Nepal between January and April 2025, down from 420,446 during the same period in 2024. While April 2025 saw 116,490 arrivals—the highest monthly total on record, tourist numbers in January, February and March all fell short of last year’s figures.

In April, India remained Nepal’s top source market with 25,933 visitors, followed by the United States (10,053), China (9,037), the United Kingdom (6,738) and Bangladesh (5,398).

Region-wise, the SAARC region contributed the largest share of tourists in April, accounting for 29.1% of total arrivals with 33,899 visitors. This was followed by Europe with 30,249 visitors (26%), Asia (excluding SAARC) with 22,167, the Americas with 12,755, Others with 7,448 and Oceania with 6,023.
