POKHARA: Dipesh Ghale scored the only goal of the match as Three Star Club entered the final of the 23rd Aha Rara Pokhara, defeating Jawalakhel Youth Club at the Pokhara Stadium on Wednesday.
Ghale, who was introduced in the match in the 66th minute in place of Aditya Shakya, scored the winner after just 12 minutes of his introduction. Three Star has lifted the title of the Pokhara Gold Cup five times, winning the tournament in 2006, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2018.
Three Star Coach Bikram Lama said his team emerged victorious in the competitive match. “The final will be competitive as both Tribhuvan Army Club and Church Boys United are very good sides,” Lama added.
Jawlakhael Coach Naresh Thapa said missed opportunities cost his side. “Both teams got opportunities in the match, but we failed to make them count,” he added.
Ghale was selected as the Player of the Tournament. He received a check for Rs 10,000.
Tribhuvan Army and the national league champion, Church Boys, are playing in the second semifinal of the tournament on Thursday.
The final will be played at the Pokhara Stadium on Saturday.
