Three cops suspended after inmates escape from custody

JANAKPURDHAM: District Police Office, Dhanusha, has suspended three police personnel after six inmates escaped the custody of the Area Police Office, Mahendranagar, on Monday.

According to Suman Timsina, the spokesperson for Madhesh Province Police Office, Sub Inspector Ashok Mandal, Head Constable Saroj Regmit and Constable Rohan Magar have been suspended pending investigation.

However, no action has been taken against Inspector Bechan Yadav – the chief of the area police office.

Meanwhile, the province police office has formed a committee to investigate the incident. The committee is led by SSP Manoj Kumar Yadav.

Similarly, District Police Office, Dhanusha, has also formed a five-member investigation committee under DSP Pradip Bahadur Chhetri.

Meanwhile, District Police Office, Dhanusha is preparing to send a new chief at the area police office. DSP Chhetri said a decision on whether to suspend Inspector Bechan Yadav will be taken after the new chief assumes office at the area police office.

Police have arrested Roshan Mahato, one of the three inmates who escaped from the custody of the area police office, on Monday. Mahato (28) was arrested at 6 pm on Monday. He was sent to custody on Saturday itself.

Five other inmates – Shankar Singh, Binod Kumar Sharma, Amit Mandal, Roshan Yadav and Harideep Singh – are on the run.
