KATHMANDU: Three siblings drowned while swimming in a water-filled pit in Golbazar Municipality-7 of Siraha on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Shabnam Khatun (12), her sister Rubina Khatun (10) and their brother Saiful Sheikh (7).
Preliminary investigations show the children drowned while swimming in the pit, Siraha Police Spokesperson DSP Ramesh Bahadur Pal told Himal Press over the phone.
Locals rescued the siblings and rushed them to a hospital for treatment. However, all three were declared dead on arrival.
Police say further investigation into the incident is underway.
