Three arrested for attempted robbery at a jewelry store by brandishing pistol

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested three individuals accused of attempting to loot a jewellery store in Indra Chowk, Kathmandu.

According to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, those arrested are Bikesh Rajbahak (30) of Boden, Bhaktapur; Arun Bhujel (34) of Dallu, Kathmandu; and Hari Krishna Maharjan of Mahalaxmi-6, Lalitpur.

A CCTV clip showing the trio attempting to rob the store had gone viral on social media. They had tried to overpower the shop attendant by brandishing a pistol, but fled after the attendant resisted.

Police say the incident occurred on April 30. A Chinese-made pistol, one magazine, a round of ammunition, and a scooter used in the incident have been recovered from the suspects.

Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai said the same group had previously looted a gold chain, Rs 400,000 in cash, two mobile phones and a CCTV camera from a wholesale store in Kathmandu-25 in January.
