KATHMANDU: Sudurpashchim Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah has removed Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, Rameshwar Chaudhary, from his cabinet.
Shah reportedly dismissed him for defying his directives.
Chief Minister Shah’s press adviser Dambar Bam confirmed Chaudhary’s dismissal. He, however, refused to divulge details.
Differences between Shah and Chaudhary had widened during the budget-making process. Sudurpashchim cabinet sources said Shah had requested Chaudhary to step down on June 17. However, Chaudhary had challenged Shah to remove him.
Chaudhary is a Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) lawmaker. He was inducted into Shah’s cabinet on May 18, replacing fellow NUP lawmaker Laxman Kishor Chaudhary, who stepped down after a leaked audio tape revealed him soliciting money from a timber trader.
Chief Minister Shah is leading a coalition government of the Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML and NUP.
