KATHMANDU: Sudurpashchim Chief Minister Dirgha Sodari is scheduled to take a vote of confidence in the Sudurpashchim Province Assembly on May 16.
Sodari was appointed Chief Minister on April 18. As per the constitution, he is required to take a vote of confidence from the province assembly within 30 days of his appointment.
The CPN (Unified Socialist) leader was appointed Chief Minister with the support of CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center) and Nagarik Unmukti Party.
This is the third time that Sodari has requested the Sudurpashchim Province Assembly Secretariat to call a meeting of the province assembly to table a motion for a vote of confidence. Province assembly meetings scheduled for the purpose on May 3 and 4 were deferred after the coalition partner UML sought more time to take a decision on the issue.
Although Sodari is running out of time, the CPN-UML still has not decided whether it would give a vote of confidence to Sodari.
