Students close to Unified Socialist vandalize Sudurpashchim University

DHANGADHI: The All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), affiliated with the ruling CPN (Unified Socialist), has vandalized the Examination Control Office of Sudurpashchim University.

Examination Controller Dev Singh Nath reported that a group of approximately 12-15 leaders and union members entered the office and vandalized the offices of examination controller and joint examination controller. “I was in a meeting with the joint examination controller discussing the upcoming exams. Suddenly, they entered the office and damaged the computers and the server that stores all student data,” Nath said.

Nath added that important examination-related documents, including answer sheets, were also damaged. “No examination-related activities can currently take place as our main server has been damaged,” he added.

Around a month ago, students associated with the Unified Socialist had padlocked the offices of the Controller of Examination and the Joint Controller of the Examination, stating that the question papers for the sixth semester of Sociology had been repeated from the previous year. Other students, however, removed the padlock last week, citing delays in the examination process.

After the students broke the lock, students associated with the Unified Socialist party vandalized the office on Friday.

The AFFNSU Kanchanpur District Committee stated that Examination Controller Dev Singh Nath and university officials should take responsibility for the incident. Ramesh Pant, the district coordinator of the organization, clarified, “Our organization did not engage in any vandalism. We had padlocked the office of the controller and joint controller. The incident occurred after their supporters removed the padlock.”
