KATHMANDU: Student unions are registering their organizations at Tribhuvan University (TU) campuses across the country to participate in the upcoming free student union (FSU) elections.
According to Tribhuvan University, student unions must register between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm on Friday to be eligible for participation in the election. Pashupati Adhikari, the director of the Tribhuvan University Student Welfare and Sports Directorate, stated that only student unions that register their organizations on Friday can contest the poll.
As per the election program published by TU, student unions will register their candidates for first past the post and proportional elections between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm on March 11.
The FSU election is scheduled for March 19. Voting will open at 8:00 am and will continue till 4:00 pm.
According to Adhikari, TU’s 62 constituent and 1,040 affiliated campuses throughout the country will hold the FSU election.
