Strong govt with weak governance: Angdembe

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party leader Bhishmaraj Angdembe has said that a government with a strong mandate is running a weak administration.

Addressing the House of Representatives on Thursday, Angdembe, who is also the the leader of the main opposition, said that while the people wanted change, they did not want governance driven by an individual’s ego or the wishes of the leadership.

“Why are we running weak governance with a strong government? We wanted change, not anyone’s ego. Governance according to the wishes of the leadership is not what we want,” he said.

He said Nepal’s progress would remain a mirage if the government continued to get bogged down in trivial issues.

Accusing the government of lacking efficiency in its working style, he said the government appeared to be running the administration without adequate experience.

“Why is the government showing a lack of efficiency? It appears that the governance is being run in an inexperienced manner,” Angdembe said.

He also called for improvements in the government’s working style.
