KATHMANDU: An unidentified group pelted stones at a car belonging to CPN-UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai, Secretary of CPN-UML, in Fungling, Taplejung district on Sunday
Police Inspector Kamal Lungleli, the acting chief of the District Police Office in Taplejung, reported that the windscreen of Bhattarai’s car has been damaged as a result of the attack. “We are searching for the individuals responsible for this act,” he added.
The incident occurred as Bhattarai was returning from a tea reception organized by the Taplejung District Committee of his party on the occasion of various festivals. UML lawmaker Urmila Thebe and Koshi Province Assembly member Til Kumar Meyangbo also attended the reception.
Pro-identity activists have been expressing dissatisfaction with the UML for naming ‘Province 1’ as ‘Koshi Province’ when the UML was leading the provincial government.
