South Korea to recruit Nepalis in three more sectors under EPS

KATHMANDU: South Korean government has said that it would source Nepali workers in forest, service and ‘root’ industries as well in 2024.

Root industries are related to the infrastructure of manufacturing businesses such as casting and molding

According to the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE), South Korea has written to it that it intends to recruit Nepali workers in three more sectors under the Employment Permit System this year.

So far, South Korea has been sourcing Nepali workers in agriculture and livestock, product-based and ship-building industries.

The South Korean government has also informed the DoFE that it intends to recruit more workers this year.

Danduraj Ghimire, the director general of DoFE, said the South Korean government has stated that it would recruit Nepali workers in three more sectors this year. “Although there were rumors that the South Korean government is reducing quota for Nepali workers, Korean officials say that they are increasing quota compared to 2023,” Ghimire added.
