KATHMANDU: Two individuals have been arrested in possession of mobile phone parts worth around Rs 9.5 million from Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-4 in Kailali district.
According to the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal, Santosh Chaudhary (33) from Kheda in Dhangadhi-19 was held with mobile phone parts worth Rs 908,000, which he was smuggling from Nepal on a motorcycle. Acting on a tip-off, he was arrested near the northern Behadi area of Dhangadhi.
Chaudhary was arrested with mobile parts worth Rs 908,000, which he was allegedly smuggling from India to Nepal on a motorcycle.
During interrogation, Chaudhary told police that he was bringing the mobile parts to deliver to Shiv Parvati Trade and Suppliers located in the same area.
“Following this information, a joint team from the Trinagar Border Security Base and the Kailali Customs Office raided the store. They discovered additional mobile phone parts worth Rs 8.44 million without any purchase bills or legal documents,” the APF Nepal said in a statement.”The shop owner, Asutosh Kumar Gupta (25), an Indian national, was subsequently taken into custody.”
APF Nepal has handed over both the detainees and confiscated goods to the customs office for further investigation.
