KATHMANDU: A problem tigress, which was taken under control from the Shuklaphanta National Park on Friday, has been brought to Central Zoo, Jawalakhel.
The tigress was darted and taken under control after it killed Gangadevi Chand (42) at Khapti rivulet area near Pachhui village in Belauri Municipality-8 in Kanchanpur on Friday. The tigress is around five years old.
Two others were killed in a tiger attack, including a Nepali, in the area which lies near the Nepal-India border.
The Central Zoo has the capacity to house four tigers at a time. It currently has four males and one female.
National Trust for Nature Conservation, which oversees the management of the Central Zoo, plans to pair the problem tigress with a male tiger named ‘Maharaj’.
Shukalaphanta National Park is estimated to have 36 adult tigers.
