Samsung starts assembling TV sets in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Multinational company Samsung has begun assembling television sets in Nepal in partnership with its local distributor Him Electronics.

Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Ramesh Rijal and JB Park, President & CEO of Samsung South West Asia, inaugurated the plant in Nawalparasi district on Wednesday. Ambassador of South Korea to Nepal Park Chong-suk, Country Chief of Samsung Electronics in Nepal Sung Jun Park and Shekhar Golchha, president of Golchha Organization – the parent company of Him Electronics, among others, attended the inauguration ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Park said this is the first example of a multinational company starting to production of electronic appliances in Nepal. “The Samsung brand has established a strong relationship with the Nepali public. Samsung, which has been in Nepal for more than two decades and has built a strong relationship with the Nepali people,” CEO Park said.

Likewise, Golchha said that cooperation with Samsung has shown wide potential in Nepal. “Collaboration with Samsung shows the potential in this field in Nepal. It is important for the world’s largest electronics company to show deep interest in the Nepali market,” he added.

Samsung products like television sets, refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves, and smartphones are available in the Nepali market. Samsung products are available through 500 retail shops and customer service centers across the country, according to the company.
