RSP Spokesperson Manish Jha
KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has claimed that its supporters were not involved in arson and vandalism during the Gen Z protest in Kathmandu and other parts of the country on September 8 and 9.
Speaking at an interaction with journalists on Tuesday, RSP Spokesperson Manish Jha said RSP leaders had been unfairly linked to incidents of vandalism and arson during the protests. He added that the party would support the government’s investigation into these events.
“Our leaders and supporters had participated in significant numbers during the Gen Z protest on September 8. However, they had no involvement in the vandalism and arson that took place the following day,” he said.
Jha clarified that he had gone to Nakkhu Prison only after learning that there was a risk of fire engulfing the prison. He denied claims that he had taken part as a leader of the protest outside the prison.
He insisted that RSP leaders received RSP President Rabi Lamichhane after the prison authorities asked RSP leaders to take responsibility for Lamichhane’s security.
