KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has finalized the leadership of nine thematic committees of the House of Representatives and two joint committees.
A meeting of the RSP’s parliamentary party held on Thursday decided to offer the leadership of the Public Accounts Committee to the Nepali Congress.
There is a tradition of offering the leadership of the Public Accounts Committee to the main opposition worldwide. The committee ensures government transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public spending.
Samikshya Baskota has been selected as the chairperson of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee, while Ashok Chaudhary will lead the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee. Similarly, Ashish Gajurel has been selected as chairperson of the Infrastructure Development Committee, Aakriti Awasthi will lead the Women and Social Affairs Committee, Hari Dhakal will chair the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, and Dr Ojaswi Sherchan will lead the Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee.
Likewise, Sumnima Udas has been selected as chairperson of the International Relations and Tourism Committee, Krishna Hari Budhathoki as the chairperson of the Finance Committee, and Rahabar Ansari as the chairperson of the Industry, Commerce, Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee.
RSP has also picked the chairperson of two joint committees. Bodh Narayan Shrestha has been selected as chairperson of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee, while Ganesh Karki will lead the Monitoring and Evaluation of the Implementation of Directive Principles, Policies, and Obligations of the State Committee.
Meanwhile, the meeting selected Kabindra Burlakoti as the Chief Whip, and Prakash Chandra Pariyar and Krantishikha Dhital as Whips in the House of Representatives.
