KATHMANDU: Police have confiscated a huge amount of cash from the residence of murder accused Ram Bahadur Bomjan dubbed the ‘Little Buddha’ by the media.
The Crime Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested Bomjon at his residence in Hattigauda, Lalitpur, on Tuesday. Police are investigating a complaint that Bomjon sexually assaulted a minor girl and killed her in Sarlahi district four years ago.
Superintendent of Police Dinesh Acharya, the spokesperson for the CIB, stated that they will also look into complaints that a few other people have gone missing from his camp. According to Acharya, police have received complaints that Chinimaya Tamang (29), Sancha Lal Waiva (51), Phulmaya Rumba, and Suresh Kumar Ale have been missing from Bomjon’s camp. All four are said to be his followers.
Chinimaya, Sancha Lal, and Phulmaya were last seen in Bomjon’s camp in Bandegaun, Sindhuplachowk, according to Acharya.
A few years ago, Bomjon established a camp at a location called Todke near Bandegaun in Indrawati-6 in Sindhupalchowk district.
CIB officials told reporters on Wednesday that police recovered Rs 30.03 million and foreign currencies worth approximately Rs 3.09 million from Bomjon’s residence. Likewise, police confiscated 14 mobile phone sets, 20 flash drives, and five iPad tablets. Police also seized different motor vehicles being used by Bomjon. However, these vehicles are not registered in his name.
Bomjon had placed an order for a luxury SUV worth Rs 50 million. He had already paid Rs 30 million to United Traders Syndicate, the distributor of Toyota in Nepal, to purchase the SUV, according to police.
Police are preparing to present Bomjon to the Sarlahi District Court as a sexual assault complaint against him has been registered in Sarlahi district.
