KATHMANDU: Sarita Kumari Thakur of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) took the oath of office and secrecy as a member of the Madhesh Province Assembly on Monday.
Speaker Ramashish Yadav administered the oath of office and secrecy to Thakur during a ceremony held at the Madhesh Province Assembly Secretariat.
The RPP recalled Kanchan Bichha, a proportional representation lawmaker, after she joined the cabinet of former Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav by defying the party’s decision, and nominated Thakur to the position.
The Election Commission nominated Thakur as a member of the Madhesh Province Assembly on May 13.
