KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane met with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin at the party’s headquarters on Tuesday.

The BJP president welcomed Lamichhane and other members of his delegation at the party headquarters. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasised the long-standing civilisational heritage, cultural bonds and deep people-to-people ties that link India and Nepal. He added that such interactions help strengthen democratic dialogue and deepen party-to-party relations.

President Nabin also shared insights into the BJP’s political journey, ideology and organisational structure, as well as its people-centric approach to political engagement.

According to a statement issued by the BJP, Nabin explained how the party operates from the national level down to individual voting booths. He also highlighted the crucial role of grassroots party workers in maintaining a continuous connection with ordinary citizens.

The visit was part of the “Know BJP” initiative, which aims to familiarise external political groups with the party’s structure and vision, the statement said.

“During the interaction, the RSP delegation was keen to learn about the BJP’s membership expansion, candidate selection process and the party’s mechanisms for identifying and maintaining connections with grassroots workers,” the statement added.

On the occasion, Nabin also highlighted the development-oriented governance model led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that service, good governance and effective welfare delivery are central to the party’s philosophy.

Senior BJP leaders, including National General Secretary Arun Singh, Members of Parliament Sanjay Jaiswal and Bansuri Swaraj, and Foreign Affairs Department In-charge Dr Vijay Chauthaiwale, among others, were present at the interaction.

The RSP delegation also toured the BJP Media Centre and the Central Library at the party headquarters.

Lamichhane arrived in New Delhi on Sunday on a five-day visit to India at the invitation of the BJP.
