KATHMANDU: Prof Dr Deepak Aryal has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University (TU).
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who also serves as the Chancellor of the country’s largest and oldest university, appointed Aryal to the position on Wednesday.
Earlier on Monday, a recommendation committee led by Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Raghuji Pant, had proposed three candidates for the position: Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khadga KC, Dr Binil Aryal and Dr. Deepak Aryal.
Prof Dr Deepak Aryal earlier served as the Head of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The position had been lying vacant after Prime Minister Oli approved resignation of Dr Keshar Jung Baral on April 10. Three days later, Prof Dr KC was named Acting Vice Chancellor for a maximum of three months.
