KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Poudel has appointed six justices to the Supreme Court.

According to a statement issued by the Office of the President, Saranga Subedi, Abdul Aziz Musalman, Mahesh Sharma Poudel, Tek Prasad Dhungana, Sunil Kumar Pokharel, and Bal Krishna Dhakal have been appointed to the vacant positions of Justices as per Article 129(2) of the Constitution of Nepal.

The Judicial Council on November 21 recommended the six names to fill the vacant positions of Justices at the Supreme Court. The Parliamentary Hearing Committee endorsed the recommendations on Tuesday.

Saranga Subedi, Mahesh Sharma Poudel, Tek Prasad Dhungana, and Abdul Aziz Musalman were previously serving as High Court Judges. Subedi was deputed at Janakpur High Court, while Poudel and Dhungana were serving at Patan High Court, and Musalman at the Hetadua bench of Patan High Court. Senior Advocate Sunil Kumar Pokharel and Bal Krishna Dhakal were recommended from the quota of legal practitioners.
