Political stability must for sustainable development: Presiden Paudel

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has said that political stability is a must for the country’s sustainable development, prosperity, and social justice.

Inaugurating the Nepal Indigenous Knowledge Conference in Kathmandu on Sunday, President Paudel said that political stability is necessary to ensure the establishment of people’s rights, as well as sustainable development, prosperity, and social justice in the country.

He added that political stability is possible only if the state gains the trust of all castes and communities and translates an inclusive system of governance into practice. “Equal access, equal opportunity, and equal respect for all castes, languages, cultures, and communities are indispensable. This is also the goal outlined by the constitution,” he added.

President Paudel also said indigenous knowledge systems are not limited to tradition alone, but are also pillars of cultural identity, environmental conservation, and sustainable development.

He said he was hopeful that the conference would make a significant contribution to bringing indigenous knowledge into the mainstream of intellectual and policy debates.
