KATHMANDU: Police have disclosed the identity of the driver who died in a bus fire in Tripureshwar on Monday.
According to SSP Dilip Ghimire, chief of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, Arjun Dong Tamang of Sisneri in Indrasarovar Municipality, Makwanpur, died while undergoing treatment at Kirtipur Burn Hospital.
Police said Arjun had been absconding after a road accident in Balaju last year. Three passengers were injured in the accident.
Ghimire said Tamang had been driving the bus using a driving license issued in the name of Sunil Tamang.
Police also said Arjun had used a license issued in the name of Dawa Tamang in an incident involving misbehavior with police in Mulpani, Kathmandu, about three months ago.
Ghimire said police were also investigating the use of ID cards and documents issued in the names of other people by the deceased driver.
Arjun allegedly set himself on fire following a dispute with traffic police personnel.
