Pokhara ward chairperson arrested for manhandling businessman, govt employee

POKHARA: Dev Krishna Parajuli, the ward chairperson of Pokhara-4, has been arrested on charges of assaulting a government employee and a local businessman.
Prajauli was arrested at Dhikidanda by a team from the District Police Office, Kaski.

According to Shyam Babu Oliya, chief of the District Police Office, Kaski, Parajuli is being investigated under a public offense case.

Parajuli has been accused of physically assaulting Ishwori Prasad Pokharel, an administrative officer at Pokhara Metropolitan City (PMC), and Lekhnath Subedi, a businessman from Chipledhunga, on Tuesday afternoon.

Subedi filed a complaint with the police on the same day.

Meanwhile, employees of Pokhara Metropolitan City staged a demonstration on Wednesday, demanding strong action against the ward chairperson.

Several government employee associations have issued a joint statement demanding strict action against the accused.
