Pokhara boasts of 10,000 KL diesel storage facility

POKHARA: Two storage tanks, with a combined capacity of 10 thousand kilometers (KL) of diesel, were brought into operation on Monday.

Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, Ramesh Rijal, inaugurated the petroleum storage facility in Gagangauda, in Wards 29 and 30 of Pokhara Metropolitan City, on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, Rijal said that the new petroleum storage facility will significantly enhance the country’s energy infrastructure.

Similarly, Umesh Prasad Thani, the managing director of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), said that the new storage facility will be a milestone in improving the supply of petroleum products in Gandaki Province. Thani said that this facility is the second-largest petroleum storage facility in the country.

The new petroleum storage facility can meet the province’s deisel demand for up to a month. Prior to the construction of this facility, the existing infrastructure in the province could meet the demand for petrol for only two days and diesel for a week.

NOC is currently supplying 320,000 liters of diesel and 160,000 liters of petrol in Gandaki Province every day.

“Now, we can fulfill the demand for diesel for a month and petrol for around 10 days,” added Thani.
