KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah is expanding his cabinet on Tuesday.
According to sources at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Shah has recommended to the President the appointment of Sudhan Gurung as the Minister for Home Affairs and Mahabir Pun as the Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation.
Gurung, a Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker from Gorkha, had earlier resigned as Home Minister after questions were raised against his assets. The government had subsequently formed a team to investigate his property details. The committee has reportedly given a clean chit to Gurung. However, the report has not been made public yet.
A cabinet meeting held on Tuesday decided to accept the report submitted by the committee, according to Government Spokesperson Sashmit Pokharel.
The two are expected to be administered the oath of office and secrecy on Tuesday.
