PM Oli returns home from Spain

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli returned home on Friday after participating in the United Nations’ Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development, held in Seville, Spain, from June 30 to July 3.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey and Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal, among others, welcome Oli at the Tribhuvan International Airport.

Senior government officials and heads of security agencies were also present on the occasion.

Oli had left for Spain on June 28 at the cordial invitation of UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.

While in Spain, PM Oli held bilateral meetings with various heads of state and government and also paid a courtesy call on King Felipe VI of Spain. He also held formal talks with his Spanish counterpart Sánchez, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Oli also engaged with global leaders, heads of regional and financial institutions, business figures, civil society representatives and UN officials. During the conference, the Nepali delegation highlighted the development challenges faced by least developed, small, and island nations.

The conference focused on addressing both immediate and long-term financing challenges for achieving sustainable development.
