KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane has submitted the report of the commission formed to investigate gold smuggling to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Lamichhane reached the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Friday morning and handed him the report.

Upon receiving the report, Prime Minister Dahal instructed Lamichhane to hold all those implicated in the report accountable. “The government will implement the recommendations made by the commission,” Dahal said. “We won’t be swayed by pressure or influence.”

He also directed the home minister to initiate the reforms recommended by the commission.

The commission led by Dilliraj Acharya handed over its 485-page report to Deputy PM and Home Minister Lamichhane on Thursday. According to Acharya, the commission collected statements from 68 individuals, conducted inspections at various customs points, and consulted with over 60 experts to compile the report.
