Petrol price up by Rs 9 per liter, LPG down by Rs 130 per cylinder

KATHMANDU: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has increased the price of petrol by Rs 9 per liter.

Issuing a statement on Tuesday, the state-owned petroleum monopolist announced that the prices of diesel and kerosene have gone up by Rs 7 per liter.

With this decision, petrol will retail at Rs 173 per liter in Kathmandu, while diesel and kerosene will be available for Rs 153 per liter.

The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), however, has dropped by Rs 130 per cylinder, much to the relief of households.

The new fuel rates will come into effect from Tuesday midnight.

NOC has said that it made changes to fuel prices based on the rates forwarded by its sole supplier, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC). The IOC provides new price rates to NOC twice a month, on the 1st and 15th.

NOC has implemented an automatic price mechanism, where the prices of petroleum products change in line with the rates forwarded by the IOC.
