KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the peace process will be taken to a successful conclusion very soon.
Speaking at a discussion with government lawyers at the Office of the Attorney General on Tuesday, Oli said that various countries have expressed interest in Nepal’s transitional justice issues. “These issues will be taken to a successful conclusion,” he added.
Oli claimed that the bill related to transitional justice has been presented in parliament and will be passed in the current session.
Prime Minister Oli also pointed out that attempts were being made to undermine social values through social media.
Although the decade-long armed conflict ended with the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA) between the government and the then CPN (Maoist), victims are yet to get justice. More than 60,000 complaints have been filed at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. However, only about 4,000 of them have undergone preliminary investigation due to disputes among political parties and shortcomings in the law, among other, reasons.
