Pariyar, Sob, Kirati sign five-point deal to form new political force

KATHMANDU: Santosh Pariyar, who left the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) earlier on Friday; Durga Sob, coordinator of the Nepal Samajbadi Party (Naya Shakti); and Sudhan Kirati, Coordinator of the Progressive National Campaign, have reached a five-point agreement to form a new political force.

“In the context of the Gen-Z movement that emerged against the country’s grave economic–political crisis, corruption, nepotism, unemployment, and the widespread degradation seen within political parties, we have reached an agreement to fulfil a challenging historic responsibility, providing a progressive way out for national politics, and undertaking an overall restructuring of Nepali politics,” they said.

The three have agreed to adopt a common name and a common election symbol for the new unified party. They have decided to hold a program in Kathmandu on November 23 to launch the new party formally.

Likewise, they have called on progressive, democratic, leftist and patriotic forces within the country and abroad, particularly the Gen Z generation, to join the campaign for broad political restructuring.

“We appeal to all new and alternative forces, as well as young people, to join hands to defeat corrupt, unethical and arrogant tendencies through the electoral process,” they said in the statement.
