Panel formed to facilitate implementation of Gen Z agreement

KATHMANDU: The government has formed a committee to facilitate the implementation of agreements reached with injured protesters and families of those killed during the Gen Z movement on September 9 and 10 last year.

The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers said at a press conference on Friday that the Gen Z Agreement and Integrated Package Implementation Coordination and Facilitation Committee, formed under the coordination of a joint secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office, will play a key role in implementing and coordinating agreements reached between the government and the protesters.

Hemraj Aryal, spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, said the committee will serve as a direct point of contact for those injured during the movement and families of those killed.

Providing details of major activities carried out over the past two weeks, Aryal said the Prime Minister’s Office had formed a task force to study ways to improve the agricultural supply chain by reducing the wide price gap between farmers and consumers.

He said the government has adopted a policy of encouraging new technologies and delivery startups to ensure agricultural produce reaches consumers directly from farms.

Similarly, Aryal said arrangements have been made to ensure that service recipients no longer need to rely on unauthorized intermediaries or pay additional fees simply to submit applications or fill out forms at government offices.

He added that government employees will not be allowed, except as provided by law, to recommend, direct or compel service recipients to contact or obtain services from any particular individual, organization or service provider.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s Office has decided to hold a press conference every Friday to provide updates on key government activities and achievements of the preceding week.
