Pakistan Embassy hosts 84th National Day reception

KATHMANDU: The Pakistan Embassy, Kathmandu hosted a reception on Sunday to commemorate the 84th National Day of Pakistan.

Vice President of Nepal Ramsahay Prasad Yadav graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, according to a press statement issued by the Pakistan Embassy, Kathmandu.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha, former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar, Foreign Affairs Secretary Sewa Lamsal, and former chiefs of Nepal Army, among others, were present on the occasion.

“A good number of senior Nepali political, civic and business leaders, civil and military officials, ambassadors, diplomats, Pakistani community, journalists, and civil society representatives also attended the event,” the embassy added in the statement.

In his remarks, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Abrar H Hashmi, underlined the historical importance of the Pakistan Resolution adopted on March 23, 1940. He also paid tributes to the forefathers under the visionary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for pursuing democratic struggle for the creation of Pakistan.
“Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1960, Pakistan and Nepal have enjoyed cordial relations and developed strong bonds. Pakistan and Nepal share a unique tapestry from geography to civilizational linkages, from peaks of the Himalayas to rich heritage, and cultural similarities unite the two peoples together,” Ambassador Hashmi added.
