KATHMANDU: Over 2,600 disaster incidents were recorded across the country over the past four months.
These incidents claimed 117 lives, while 564 were injured, and 4,725 families were affected.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), 198 incidents of flood were recorded during the period, which claimed 16 lives and affected 1,313 families. Twenty-one are missing.
Similarly, 289 incidents of landslides were recorded across the country in these four months. These incidents resulted in 13 deaths and 17 injuries.
Similarly, 174 incidents due to heavy rainfall and 244 due to lightning strikes were also recorded in past four months.
According to the NNDRMA, 74 snakebite cases, 1,066 fire incidents, 158 forest fires, 276 windstorms, 153 animal attacks, 41 cases of altitude sickness and five earthquakes were recorded in past four months.
A total of 2,675 disaster incidents between mid-April and August 9 have left 22 people missing and affected thousands across the country.
