JANAKPUR: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has laid the foundation stone for 64 major paved road projects to be implemented by the Madhesh Province Government.

At a ceremony organized at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development, Madhesh Province Government, in Janakpurdham on Sunday, Oli formally inaugurated the projects by launching construction virtually.

According to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure, these projects will construct 320 kilometers of paved roads – five kilometers in each of the 64 provincial constituencies across the province’s eight districts. The project is estimated to cost Rs 12.7 billion and is targeted for completion within three years.

“Since funding has been secured and the tender process completed through the infrastructure office, road construction will now gain momentum,” Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Saroj Kumar Yadav said.

According to Yadav, over 200 kilometers of the 320 kilometers executed in the first phase have already been completed.

These roads will have a width of 5.5 to 7 meters.

Additionally, the ministry has initiated the process of building one concrete bridge in each of the 64 constituencies with the same modality.

Minister Yadav said the project will connect remote villages to the transportation network, promote trade and commerce, and facilitate the transport of local products to markets.
