NRB begins distributing crisp banknotes for festive season

KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has begun issuing new banknotes to the general public for the upcoming festive season.

According to the central bank, the general public can get a bundle each of Rs 5, Rs 10, Rs 20, Rs 50 and Rs 100 denominations upon exchange of Rs 18,500. Each bundle contains 100 bills.

NRB offices and bank and financial institutions (BFIs) are also providing new banknotes to the general public.

People use the new banknotes to worship gods and goddesses and to offer to relatives after offering tika.
