KATHMANDU: Noted industrialist Arun Chaudhary has been arrested for investigation into charges of registering government land in his name.
Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested Chaudhary and Ajit Narayan Thapa on Thursday on the charge of registering 10 ropanis of land of the then Bansbari Leather and Shoes Factory Ltd in Maharajgunj.
Chaudhary is the chairman and managing director of CG Holdings – a business conglomerate involved in beverage, automobiles, education, FMCG, hospitality, financial services and real estate sectors. He is the youngest brother of lawmaker Binod Chaudhary who is the only Forbes-listed billionaire in the country.
Similarly, Thapa was the chairman of the state-owned footwear industry.
CIB has formed a dedicated team under SSP Dinesh Acharya to investigate the land grab case.
