KATHMANDU: The government has appointed Nilam Dhungana as the Acting Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank.
Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel designated Dhungana, the senior-most deputy governor, as the Acting Governor as per Section 27 of the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2002.
The central bank has been without a governor since Maha Prasad Adhikari completed his term on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the government has formed a three-member committee under Finance Minister Paudel to recommend three names for the Governor. The committee, which also has former Governor Bijay Raj Bhattarai and Economist Bishwo Paudel, has not yet been able to recommend the names.
