KATHMANDU: The newly appointed province chiefs of Madhesh, Gandaki, and Sudurpashchim provinces were sworn in on Wednesday.
President Ram Chandra Poudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Sumitra Bhandari, Dilli Raj Bhatta, and Nazir Miyan at the Office of the President on Wednesday.
Earlier, the cabinet recommended to the President the appointment of Sumitra Bhandari, Dilli Raj Bhatta, and Nazir Miyan as province chiefs for Madhesh, Gandaki, and Sudurpashchim, respectively.
The swearing-in ceremony was organized a few hours after the President dismissed the province chiefs of these provinces appointed by the previous government on the recommendation of the council of ministers.
Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal, among others, were present on the occasion.
