
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) Index ended its five-day losing streak, gaining a modest 1.03 points to close at 2,611.43 points on Tuesday.
The modest uptick reflects cautious optimism among investors, supported by a strong daily turnover of Rs 8.74 billion, up from Rs 7.63 billion on Monday.
A total of 20.54 million share units were traded through 80,054 transactions during the session, indicating active market participation. In comparison, 18.43 million units were traded through 65,884 transactions on Monday.
Share prices of 120 companies advanced, while 126 declined during the session. Sanima Mai Hydropower Company Ltd registered the highest turnover of the session with Rs 928.96 million worth of shares traded. Ngadi Group Power Ltd and Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 673.20 million and Rs 382.21 million, respectively.
Among the trading groups, five sectors recorded gains, with the Trading sub-index leading with a gain of 2.03%. Conversely, eight sectors closed lower, with the Others sub-index posting the largest decline of 1.58%.
