Despite initial gains, the market traded mostly in negative territory and weakened further in the final hour of trading.

Despite the decline, overall activity remained strong. Total turnover improved to Rs 14.56 billion, with 35.47 million units of securities traded across 138,883 transactions on the bourse.

Market breadth was clearly negative, as unit prices of 85 stocks advanced, while 170 declined and five remained unchanged. Unit prices of three scrips—Corporate Development Bank Ltd, Mithila Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd, and Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd—hit the negative circuit of 10% during the session, while three others saw their share prices go down by more than 9%.

Ngadi Group Power Ltd topped the turnover chart with Rs 599.91 million worth of shares traded. SY Panel and United Modi Hydropower Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 522.95 million and R 466.4 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, only three sub-indices posted nominal gains, while the remaining 10 ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the  Development Bank sub-index, which was down 2.23%. Next were Manufacturing & Processing Finance sub-indices, which closed 2.12% and 1.75% lower, respectively.
