KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its winning streak for a fourth straight session, gaining 5.74 points to close at 2,096.38 points on Thursday – the last trading day of the week.
Although the benchmark index initially dipped, hitting an intra-day low of 2,083 points, it subsequently recovered and maintained momentum throughout the session, posting a nominal gain of 9.27%.
Share prices of 157 companies advanced on the day, while 82 declined, and eight remained unchanged. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd was the highlight on the bourse as shares worth Rs 188.79 million of the reinsurance company were traded on the day. Chandragiri Hills Ltd and Api Power Company followed with turnovers of Rs 87.65 million and Rs 77.53 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, four sub-indices ended the day in the red while the remaining nine posted gains. The Hydropower sub-index posted the highest gain of 1.44%, while the Trading and Development Bank sub-indices were up by 1.12% and 0.63%, respectively.
Shares worth Rs 3.21 billion were traded on the bourse on Thursday through 67,273 transactions.
