
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) soared 62.25 points to close trading at 2,673.79 on Wednesday.
Although the market performance was tepid till the first trading hour of the day, it gained momentum after the hour’s mark and ended the session 2.38% higher.
This marked the largest intra-day gain on the bourse since March 2, when the index climbed 75.24 points. This is the second straight day of gain after breaking a five-day losing streak on Tuesday.
Unit prices of 227 scrips advanced during the session, while 18 declined and one remained. The total turnover rose to Rs 10.51 billion, with 27.24 million units of shares traded through 99,305 transactions.
All trading groups ended the session in the green. The Finance sub-index led the charge with a 5.47% gain. The Hydropower and Banking sub-indices were next with gains of 3.13% and 2.97%, respectively.
Sanima Mai Hydropower Ltd topped the turnover charts with Rs 592.09 million worth of shares traded. Next were Ngadi Group Power Ltd and Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 547.96 million and Rs 431.19 million, respectively.
